At a home using around 8,000 m³ a year, every saved per cent is worth tens of thousands. After the saving components were fitted at the end of October 2025, consumption fell immediately and has held. The facility is run by the Liberec Region, Czechia.
The Velké Hamry care home runs the “Horský domov Hamrovák” building and is the largest water user among the Liberec Region homes assessed. That changes the economics of the whole measure: at around 8,000 m³ a year even a single-digit percentage is worth tens of thousands, a double-digit one hundreds of thousands. The facility also sits in a hard-water area, so the question was not only whether the components would save, but whether they would hold the set flow after months of use.
“We are the largest water user among the care homes assessed in the Liberec Region — around 8,000 m³ a year — so for us every per cent counts in the hundreds of thousands.”
The components were fitted at the end of October 2025 and the fall showed up in the very first full month. For January to April 2026 the comparison with the same months of the previous year came out at −24.5 %. The facility itself, however, communicates a more cautious range — and we adopt it, because the annual figures are so far an annualisation of a few months, not a reading of a whole year.
“For January to April 2026 we measured −24.5 %; cautiously we work with a range of 20–25 % until we have a full year.”
| Facility | Velké Hamry care home — the “Horský domov Hamrovák” building, Liberec Region, Czechia |
| Installation | 28–29 October 2025 |
| What was measured | Water use at the billing meter, i.e. the whole building — not individual outlets |
| Period | January–April 2026 against the same months of 2025 (2,115 vs 2,802 m³) |
| Result | −24.5 %; the communicated range is 20–25 % until a full year closes |
| Saving | ~1,989 m³ a year ≈ ≈ 14 286 € (350,000 CZK) a year |
| Investment | ≈ 5 234 € (128,240 CZK) excl. VAT → payback ~4 months |
| Estimate vs. actual | The audit of 9/2025 predicted 16 % and ≈ 9 592 € (235,000 CZK). The actual result beat the prediction. |
The higher the consumption, the faster the measure pays back. An audit calculates the potential for your building from your own supplier's tariff.
